Falcon Race Timing and the Mifflinburg Area Cross Country / Track & Field Team are proud to announce the 3rd annual running of the Mifflinburg Miracle Mile on Thursday, June 7.  The race will be a point-to-point event with a net downhill ideal for fast running times. After the race, enjoy some food and refreshments, kids activities and games. The race will be broken up into 4 different heats.

Proceeds from the 2018 event will benefit Camp Koala. Camp Koala hosts camps and support groups for grieving children who have experienced the death of a parent, primary caregiver or sibling. Founded in 2008, Camp Koala is a 501c3 nonprofit public charity offering grief support to children at no cost, thanks to our generous donors.

Camp Koala was started by Lisa Streett-Liebetrau in memory of her sisters, Michelle and Heather Streett, who were killed in an auto accident in 1989. Since the Streett girls grew up in Mifflinburg, bringing the camp here was always a goal of Lisa’s. In 2016, Camp Koala in Union County began, with a weekend grief camp in the West End and a children’s grief support group at Evangelical Hospice.

With three branches (Union County, Carlisle and Wilkes-Barre) Camp Koala operates year round. We host one, two and three day grief camps, local grief support groups at Evangelical Hospice and Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, as well as Children’s Grief Awareness Day activities in schools and Comfort Boxes for newly bereaved students in schools and funeral homes.   With your help, we can continue to grow and prosper in Union County. Our success lies upon the shoulders of our community, thanks for helping!
