The Black Moshannon 5k/10k and fun walk was started in 1980 by Mary Ann Williams. As a very good runner herself, she directed the race for 25 years. Runners from all over Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, New York, and other states have a history of showing up in the beautiful Black Moshannon State Park every Memorial Day Weekend. After Mary Ann’s retirement from coordinating the race, the reigns were handed over to, the one and only, Dave Caslow. With Dave’s guidance, the race has continued to grow and has helped raise money to support the YMCA of Centre County and the local community. The event started as a run but has become a great Saturday morning kickoff to the Memorial Day Holiday for the entire family.
