SUMMARY:Mulligans & Shinsplints 5k / 10k - Bethel\, PA
DESCRIPTION:Overall Results \nAge Group Results \nThe Mulligans & Shinsplints fundraiser presented by Dieffenbach’s Uglies Kettle Chips is held the weekend after Labor Day each year. It was created to help alleviate the debt of the CIMIV school. Debt is incurred by the center due to the variable nature of the supporting funds that come in versus the steady nature of the expenses going out to keep the center running. \nThis event consists of a 5K & 10K race in rural Pennsylvainia on Saturday and a scramble golf tournament at Heidelberg Country Club not far from where the race is held. The event also includes a concert at the Herbert’s Amphitheater featuring Cory Shelly on Saturday night and we cap the weekend Sunday evening with a celebration dinner at Heidelberg CC filled with great food\, prizes and conversation.

SUMMARY:Harvest Moon Mile - Harrisburg\, PA
DESCRIPTION:Overall Results \nAge Group Results \nHelp benefit Siena’s HUGS (Help Us Grow Strong) Foundation (Fighting Prader-Willi Syndrome and other rare diseases)! \nWhere and When: \nEnjoy the pleasant scenery around the Shoppes on Market and Susquehanna Township. The run will start and finish at the foot of the mall. The reason for the start time\, is that we have the pleasure of a fantastic nightly view of the sunset. The race will start at 6:45pm and end just as the sun goes down over the hills. The Shops in the Mall close at 8pm\, so feel free to stroll through all of the unique retail. Bring the family and dine after the meal with our special Harvest Moon Dinner that begins at 7pm. This will also kick off our NEW FALL menu which will officially start on Wednesday September 27th. \nWhat’s Included:\nYour entry will include a Two draft beers\, an appetizer buffet\, a goody bag with special offers and coupons\, an official race medal\, and a complimentary T-Shirt. Medals will be awarded for both Male and Female winners of 5 age categories and the Top 3 overall winners. \nWhy:\nThe most important reason behind this event is that all proceeds will be donated to Siena’s HUGS Foundation (youcanhug.com). This organization is dedicated to strengthening children with rare and genetic diseases/conditions. Their philosophy is very much in line with Harvest. This is healthy eating\, regular exercise\, and a balanced life can contain\, cure\, and/or maintain certain symptoms these kids may face throughout their lifetime. If you can’t support them at the race\, please consider a donation through their website. \nWho are we:\nHarvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar was born of a desire to create a dining experience that focused on sustainable\, health-conscious\, and locally-sourced cuisine. CEO Dr. Dave Magrogan\, who is a former chiropractor with training in nutritional health\, saw a need for a high quality\, farm-fresh\, seasonally-changing menu that offered a range of dining options not typically found in traditional farm-to-table establishments. In his opinion\, quality of ingredients and quantity of options are not mutually exclusive\, and the combination of those philosophies is what sets Harvest apart from other concepts. \nHarvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar believes that where your food comes from is as important as what you eat\, which is why we champion the philosophy of “know your farmer\, know your food.” We work closely with 75 local farmers to source the freshest and highest quality ingredients possible. While other establishments have only recently begun to embrace organic menu additions\, Harvest was built from the ground up with a no compromise attitude towards using local\, all-natural ingredients in all of our offerings. \nWhat’s In The Name: \nWhat Is a Harvest Moon? \nThe Harvest Moon is the full Moon nearest the start of fall or the autumnal equinox. This usually means it coincides with the September full Moon\, though it can also fall nearer to the October full Moon\, occurring anywhere from two weeks before to two weeks after the equinox.\nIn 2019\, the Harvest Moon will rise on Saturday\, September 14 at 12:33am (EDT). \nWhy is it Called the Harvest Moon?\nFor several evenings\, the moonrise comes soon after sunset. This results in an abundance of bright moonlight early in the evening\, which was a traditional aide to farmers and crews harvesting their summer-grown crops. Hence\, it’s called the “Harvest” Moon! \nWhat Makes the Harvest Moon Different from Other Full Moons?\nThere are just a little over 12 complete Moon cycles every year\, on average (there being about 29.53 days in a synodic month). The Harvest Moon isn’t like the other Moons. Usually\, throughout the year\, the Moon rises an average of about 50 minutes later each day. But near the autumnal equinox\, the difference is only 30 minutes. \nAdditionally\, the Full Harvest Moon rises at sunset and then will rise very near sunset for several nights in a row because the difference is at a yearly minimum. It may almost seem as if there are full Moons multiple nights in a row!
